The warm and sunny days of spring are here! The grass is green, bulbs are blooming and the trees are budding.

That means the time to trim your trees is running out. Once trees start budding you want to leave them alone so they can use all of their energy to produce a healthy crop of leaves. Trimming them once they leaf out means they have to redirect their energy and resources to healing over any fresh cuts. That can lead to a weaker crop of leaves and an unhealthy start to the growing season.
As the sun is getting stronger, the trees bark also needs to stay protected. Trimming after leaves have sprouted allows more sunlight to reach the bark which often results in sun scalding.

The warmer days also indicate that burn season is wrapping up. Typically burn season lasts through April and sometimes into May depending on how wet the winter has been. However, burn days aren't as predictable and the wind tends to pick up in the afternoons making it difficult for us to safely rely on burning. Often, late in the burn season, it's required to obtain permits in order to legally burn. Visit the Cal Fire website to inquire about burn permits.

Services Offered

Brett Evans Tree Service always provides free estimates and are happy to give you an evaluation and answer any questions you may have.

We specialize in trimming and cutting down hazardous trees.

Owning a skid steer, a chipper and dump trailers allow us to offer a variety of clean up options for your tree debris.

We regularly cut and burn brush for NRCS grant participants.

We trim trees without the use of spikes to ascend the trees. Spikes damage the bark and allow bugs and infections to enter the trees.

Brett Evans Tree Service has been operating in Mariposa county since 2015. However, Brett's experience in tree work started long before that. As a kid, his dad Bob owned a tree service and Brett would often work with his dad. Brett gained a lifetime of knowledge and skill at a very young age. Continuing in his dad's footsteps, Brett strives to keep Mariposa residents safe from hazardous trees, but also looks for ways to better our forests and treat our trees with care.
